OWEN NAQICA
REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Owen Naqica is a Junior at West Campus High School in Sacramento, California. Inside politics, he regularly advocates for state legislature on education and social justice. He previously founded the Sacramento County High School Democrats, empowering youth in politics in and around Sacramento County. Naqica is the Editor-in-Chief of The West Campus Times, the student-led newspaper for his high school. In addition, Naqica serves as a Student Advisory Councilmember for the Sacramento City Unified School District, where he influences board policy through resolutions. He is also a founding member of the Superintendent’s Youth Advisory Council on Civic Education for the Sacramento County Board of Education. Naqica regularly influences policy in Sacramento and in the state. He is currently collaborating with the County Office of Education on a Civic Education curriculum for elementary and middle schoolers that builds the principles of civics in K-8 education. To him, youth civic engagement and building the next generation of civic leaders in schools is very important. Outside of politics, Naqica likes to listen to music and write poetry.
